I am Professor Emeritus in the Philosophy Department of Georgetown University, where I taught for 37 years. My research interests are scattered across various parts of logic, philosophy of language, moral philosophy and metaphysics. I received my PhD from the Philosophy Department of Stanford University under the direction of Kit Fine, my BA from the Mathematics Department of Johns Hopkins University and I attended high school at Aberdeen High in Maryland.
I continue to spend some time in the seminar rooms and on the tennis courts at Georgetown and I also hang out with my friends at the University of Maryland. I am a longstanding member of the DCRRRC and SFRRC road running clubs, a supporter and former board member of the Lisner Louise Dickson Hurt Home, and a regular user (and former board member) of the Livingston Street Dog Park. I am married, with one adult son and one dog.
Thanks to my colleague Andy Vogt, I am honored to have an Erdös number of three:
Steven Kuhn > Andrew Vogt > Paul Kainen > Paul Erdös.
